Evaluation Essay

My product represents social groups through the representation of toxic masculinity, influences, drugs, drinking and how it doesn't have to be all about that to have your youth and enjoyment. Representing how any sort of stereotypical dominant ideology of mens influences can effect a persons life especially on young females. In this case I used the singer who is myself to represents a good young happy female connotes vibes of youth, freedom and compassion. Myself being the main singer as a young female is more of a target for stereotypical masculinity of manipulation and and influences. I am trying to challenged and reinforce these dominant ideologies of a young independent women. This is still a current occurring issue in society. Creating this new stigma and awareness of this matter.

To create a sense of branding I created a social media page on Instagram to brand and advertise my artist to create verisimilitude to the artist along with my music video. I thought about mes-en-scene which signifies my music and genre on my page shown through my posts and also location and costume to ensure it mirror the ideas and they way I wanted to show of my artist and branding. I decided to create a logo for my artists to use in my social media page and for possible branding in the nearby future, the logo I made is also actually on the digipak I created for my artist. I decided from the photoshoot I did in the woods after filming was a good to be added onto my digipak as is an iconography of my artist smbolising and unique imagery to ensure convergence and synergy for my artist to benefit from. For my digipak I put myself the artist on the front cover therefore making myself recognizable and entices audiences to buy my digipak.

My product engages with the audiences the use of the freedom and happiness the song brings them. In my questionnaire I send out, the majority of the people said that what they preferred most in a music video is the performance of it. Music videos which are entertaining and have a good performance are more interesting and get the most views as there is a creative entertaining background to the song which does relate to the lyrics as well. This creates more stimulus and gripping iconography of the song for the audience. Artists such as David Quetta entertain and uplift people through making them exciting and fun to watch. Similar to You and Me, David Guetta similarly uses a theme of upbeat dance songs, As my questionnaire survey was crucial in ensuring that I was focusing on my target audience and market with a product that interests them the most.  My music video could appeal to the audiences as they can use the main protagonist and identify with her desires to a free dynamic independent lifestyle. As well as uses and gratification.  

My research helped to follow conventions of my genre of my music video. I did some research on theory that could link to my music video, looking at Stuart Halls reception theory as the audiences will encode a particular identify before then decoding my media text, they can either decode it as opposition reading, preferred reading or negotiated reading. This I was able to understand that how the audiences might decode my media text in different ways. Before my research I didn't really know the different between the genres of music and music videos. After I did some research and note taking on it lead me to come to the choosing of my genre for my music video. I had taken some ideas for other electronic/dance genre music video which I was able to used in mine. There was a lot of things going on, colors which stand out and muptlie fast paced shots and cuts. As I was editing I changed the opacity on premier pro to making it look more verisimilitude. My research also helped me with my Instagram layout on my social media page I made for my artists, as when I was looking at some other artists Instagrams I was looking at how and why they have chosen to lay out their feed the way they do. For example, I had a look at Adel she is known to having a very unique and black instagram page which had a slight change of black shade with a new theme, as well as signifying her genre of music, which then shows her fans something new is coming out and posting relatable stuff to her music. This idea had inspired me as I used it on my own social media page. My piece challenged stereotypical conventions of the high effects of bad influences and addictions when partying in the rare media products, with my artist showing the freedom of the youth and pure happiness without addiction and bad influences that occur these days just enjoying the music and yourself. This depiction helps audiences resonates and relates to him and ultimately they become more engaged and enjoy my music and myself and an artist.
